Part 1: The Legacy of Rizzini Gun Making: A History of Excellence
The history of Rizzini gun making is a testament to the fusion of tradition, innovation, and uncompromising quality. This legacy, spanning over six decades, has firmly established the Rizzini name as a symbol of excellence in the world of fine firearms.
The Rizzini story begins in the early 1960s, a period marked by rapid changes in the firearms industry. During this time, a small yet ambitious company named Zoli & Brothers Rizzini emerged on the international shotguns market. Founded by five brothers and their childhood friend Rinaldo Zoli, the company's early years were characterized by a focus on midrange production. Despite this, their shotguns quickly gained a reputation for robustness and reliability.
As the 1970s dawned, a significant shift occurred within the company. Rinaldo Zoli decided to retire, leading the Rizzini brothers to embark on a new chapter in their journey. They founded the Fratelli Rizzini gun factory with a clear vision: to revolutionize the quality of their shotguns. Guido Rizzini, one of the brothers, spearheaded this transformation, prioritizing mechanical and aesthetic innovations to set their firearms apart from the competition.
Under Guido Rizzini's leadership, Fratelli Rizzini introduced several groundbreaking innovations that would become hallmarks of their firearms. One of the most notable was the development of the bar action lock, distinguished by its solid bridle and minimal number of components. This lock, celebrated for its reliability and strength, set a new standard in shotgun mechanisms. Another significant innovation was the back action lock, designed to eliminate accidental discharge through a uniquely positioned safety lever. This lock, along with other innovations such as the robust and simple ejectors system, reflected Guido's commitment to combining simplicity with superior functionality.
In 1979, Guido Rizzini introduced the inertial single trigger, a patent that would define the Rizzini brand. This trigger system, combining the best features of mechanical and inertial systems, ensured safe and reliable operation even after extensive use. The single trigger, along with other innovations like the double rifle lock and boxlock intercepting sears, exemplified the Rizzini commitment to mechanical excellence.
